Loved that book when I had my VW camper.

I miss having people like John around. This country got wound really tight during Reagan and has never really loosened back up.

(Course, you couldn't pay me now to drive one of those deathtraps. heh heh heh.)

I LOVE my "deathtrap". Lowback seats-four wheel drums and all. Of course I realize what I drive and the limitations of such a vehicle. 1967

I had a 77 Westphalia Campmobile Deluxe with the sink, fridge, closet, pop-top, dining room, and kid's bed that hung across the front seats. It had fuel injection so it was not near as slow as my dad's 70(?) 1600 or 1800 carbed. It did great down on the coast but when I got to B'ham the steep, short hills were killing me. I spent most of my life in 2nd gear. So I sold the bus and the bong as a package to a friend. He puttered off and I ain't seen him in 15 years.

If you click on the "inside" link: mine was that green with the green and yellow plaid interior. I believe their are currently governmental regulations preventing the manufacture of such color schemes. Seems like the front seats had "straw" stuffing that would break down after a couple of years and you basically sat on the springs.

The straw is mohair. It is what gives VW's that unique smell that I love so much.
